A well-regulated newspaper tells the facts of the news on the front page. From a reading, we may deduce examples or patterns from which we draw conclusions. But it is on the editorial page (granting the ability of the editor) that we learn how these facts relate to life.
There is a similarity in that to the Testament. We learn the facts of the birth, the life, the death and the resurrection of Christ in these accounts of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. The letters, written to churches or individuals, relate to us how these facts regulate and touch our lives. The more we delve into the "editorials," the deeper will be our spiritual appreciation for the sacrifice Christ made for us. Do you want to have a deeper faith, a total commitment, a peace of God that passes understanding? Read the "editorials." Do you want your life to be serene, calm, without any anxiety and cares? Study the epistles, the Holy Word of God. |
