They did that. They taught in Jerusalem in such way as to make 3,000 disciples in one day (Acts 2:41), and there were daily additions to that number (Acts 2:47). Not long thereafter, when those thousands of disciples were scattered from Jerusalem "they went everywhere preaching the word" (Acts 8:4). They had been taught to teach.
His last instructions before leaving were: "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations...,teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you" (Matthew 28:19-20). When they made disciples by teaching, they were to teach those disciples to do exactly what Jesus had instructed them to do.

Jesus did not "teach classes," nor "present lessons." He did not come from heaven with a briefcase full of highly polished sermons which He was determined to deliver whether they were understood or not. He was altogether concerned with influencing His listeners and this concerned with influencing His listeners and this concern for them determined the topics, the content, the method and the depth of His presentations.
John’s Gospel account reveals one such incident. The record of Jesus’ conversation with the Samaritan woman at Jacob’s well, as contained in John 4, is a rich depository of biblical information worthy of the careful attention of any devout student. The narrative falls into three major segments: First, there is the explanation as to why the Lord happened to be passing through Samaritan territory (vv. 1-4). Second, there is the actual exchange between Jesus and this strange woman (vv. 5-26). Finally, there is the effect that ultimately was produced as a result of this incident (vv. 27-42). Click here: Audio Clips - Wednesday's Wisdom Jesus never allowed the working of miracles or the clamor of the multitudes to hinder His program of training disciples to teach. He even chose twelve for more exclusive attention. Toward the latter part of His ministry, especially, He drew those twelve away to remote places for special instruction.
Jesus was the master teacher He taught His disciples the facts they needed to know and made applications which they could not miss. He answered their questions and explained what they did not understand. Yet wisely, He did not go deeper than they were able to comprehend (John 16:12). Having taught them, He sent them out for practice teaching (Matthew 10). He encouraged them by telling them they would do greater works than He (John 14:12) referring likely to their wider sphere of teaching. The skill of Jesus is demonstrated in the actions of the apostles after He left them. They traveled to the uttermost parts of the earth, they did write books and their lives were so reflective of His nature that people everywhere "realized that they had been with Jesus" (Acts 4:13). Even this, however, does not fully explain His influence in our world today. I have directed today's email edition to this site to comment on some features available to you here. STORY OF THE BIBLE : I have been promoting listening to Johnny Ramsey's 9 hour narrative on the bible either here on line, or ordering free CD disc for those not so familiar with the bible. It really is for everyone! It is great for first timers to learn what the bible is all about but it is also for those of us that have spent our whole life in it. If you are a preacher of the gospel it will give you some ideas for sermons your congregation needs. If you want bulk orders for your congregation we can supply, those needs . If you are a College Bible Professor even you can profit from Johnny Ramsey's using the bible as it's own best commentary. Once you have played it through once, you will listen to it again! Remember you can always come to this website and click on the one lesson you might want some insight on. Next week I will continue with the weekly e-mail edition. God Bless, and read your bible this week for it is God's inspired word! The NT church has been charged with the awesome responsibility of preaching the gospel to all mankind. The design of that message is to turn men from darkness to light. Truly we are to "rescue the perishing."
Jesus said that the gospel was to be preached to the whole creation (Mark 16:15-16). Paul said the church is the "pillar and ground of truth" (1 Timothy 3:15). As such, it is expected to stand under and support the truth in the world. This divine task can and will be accomplished in harmony with the wisdom of the Being who ordered it when each congregation "sounds out the word of the Lord" under it's own elders, using it's own resources, and answering to no board or conclave knwn to man. It will be accomplished when each disciple, whose heart burns with a love for souls, personally does all he can to teach the truth, wherever his influence extends. ENTHUSIASM If it were as easy to arouse enthusiasm as it is suspicion, just think want could be accomplished! We have never learned to support the things we support with anything like the enthusiasm with which we oppose the things we oppose. Faith
"Genuine faith is assuring, insuring and enduring. Faith keeps the man who keeps his faith. Faith is believing what God says simply because God is who says it. Faith either removes mountains or tunnels through". The Sermon You Preach
The first sermon preached each Sunday is not by the preacher, but by you. You preach a message of good cheer when you say "Good Morning" to those you meet when you park your car and when you enter the building... you preach a message of "Welcome! We have room for you!" When you slide over in the pew instead of forcing others to squeeze in front of you.. .You preach a message of hope and joy when you sing enthusiastically during song service...You preach a message of the power of prayer when you fervently enter into our time of prayer together... You preach a message of respect when you listen attentively while the preacher is speaking.. ..You preach a message of love when you smile, say hello, and introduce yourself to visitors... You preach a message of faith when you give your offering.. .You preach a message about the importance of the Scriptures when you bring your Bible.. .Many messages are preached before the preacher stands up to bring his message. If your message is positive and consistent, then the message given from the pulpit will be much better received. Come each Sunday prepared to preach your sermon! Author Unknown Preach |
