How To Be Holy
For the Christian, then, holiness means belonging to God and becoming like the God to Whom we belong.
Belonging to God: We are holy because we are His. Nothing in us makes us holy; belonging to Him makes us holy. This means that holiness is not primarily negative, but positive. We have been set apart for Him, for His pleasure, and for His purpose.
If we are separated to God then we are also separated from the world. If we are called to be holy even as He is holy, then the character of God must be considered. Thus the character of God becomes the standard of our own character, we become like the God to Whom we belong. Holy life starts as we detach ourselves from the source of sin. Then we shall become the children of God and holiness shall become a way of life. (2 Cor 6:17) Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the un clean thing; and I will receive you. (18) And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty. (7:1) Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God"
