• What a man thinks and does when things are at their worst makes or breaks him. Crushed hopes, broken trust and bitter disappointment precipitate a crisis for every soul; and it is his behavior then that determines his failure or success. The coward in time of crisis thinks with his legs; but the brave keeps on fighting though he is scared half to death.
• Men have lacked wisdom on many great issues, because they lacked the courage to be wise. Through cowardice they chose the way of stupidity, because it was the way of least resistance. Emerson said, "Half a man's wisdom goes with his courage."
Control your fears! For fear is more hurtful than the thing you fear. "Fear makes the wolf bigger than he is." — German Adage. The world awards the best only to men and women of courage.
God's Will
It is God's will that his children be courageous:
Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the Lord thy God, he it is that doth go with thee: he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee. (Deuteronomy 31:6)
Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. ( John 14:27)
For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of love, and of a sound mind [discipline, A.S.V.]. (II Timothy 1:7)
